Student placement

National Student Placements

ASSIST has a limited number of opportunities for students wishing to complete their block fieldwork training at our organisation. We kindly ask students to apply through their respective institutions after having read and understood the following norms: 

  • ASSIST is a non-profit, voluntary organisation, and is therefore not in the position to provide any bursaries, stipends or allowances for services rendered during the placement 
  • Applications for stays greater than 30 days will be accepted over shorter stays 
  • Preference will be given to applicants from institutes in ASSIST’s target areas (see: “Working Areas” section of the website) 
  • Preference will also be given to those who have demonstrated an understanding of ASSIST’s work, and can clearly define specific area(s) that he/she would like to learn more about 
  • All costs related to a placement (i.e. travel expenses, food, accommodation, etc.) will be borne by the student

International Student Placements

ASSIST accepts applications from international students who must fulfil related fieldwork as a pre-condition for graduating from their studies. This is not an internship as such. Volunteers

Over the years, ASSIST has benefited from the services of many volunteers from across the globe who wanted to make a meaningful contribution to society. Volunteers are welcome to send their CV and motivation letter to ASSIST. Keep in mind that we give preference to volunteers who: 

  • Are service-minded and able to adapt to different cultures and work environments 
  • Are willing to stay at ASSIST for a minimum of 2-3 months 
  • Are prepared to work in rural settings 
  • Demonstrate a keen understanding and interest in ASSIST’s work

  • Professional, committed, efficient, disciplined and able to work in a team as well as independently 
  • Have a Graduate Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, (Civil) Engineering, Agriculture, Health (Care) or Communications & Social Media, or good skills regarding Fundraising or Documentation 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years work experience in the related field 
  • Willing to work and stay in remote, rural settings
